After purchasing my home a little over 2 years not quite 3 years ago I would like to share my experience regarding my home. I have Electrical issues with my home in my laundry room the electrical doesn't work in order for me to use my washer I have to plug an extension cord in the hallway in order to wash my clothes or otherwise if I try to use the outlet for the washer it will trip and shut off the washer totally now the outlet doesn't work at all. In the kitchen when I use my coffee maker my refrigerator will shut off and trip so I have to go to the breaker box.

The deck that was built the craftsmanship and the way they built it was horrendous to say the least. I was also unaware since I go in and out of my garage last month when it rain heavily I order delivery and it was a dam pond in the walk way literally the delivery person brought it to my attention. I have had issues with the AC & Heating System/ Unit since my husband and I have moved into this home, Its also things like the tops of your doors not being painted, underneath the sinks paint on the cabinets. A homeowner should not have these issue with a home less then 3 years old. I do plan on contacting Meritage Homes to see what can be done about the pond in the walk way when it rains. I did contact them about the electrical issues and of course the warranty is only good for a year. Major components of a home should be warranted more than a year but that says a lot right there! and no new homeowner should have these issues not with major components such as AC & Heating system, Electrical, and a Pond in their walk way. My grade for this builder would be a D- I wouldn't recommend them and will never use the again!

We came to look Park at McKenzie Ridge,Apex NC during grand opening event and was interested in Sapphire model. We made atleast 3-4 visits to make sure if the model fits my family needs. Later on Nov 19 2017, I mentioned that I was interested in bigger lot with North facing. At the same time sales agent mentioned that the biggest lot 133 with 7459 sqft just gave check for that lot. I asked to send an email once other lots open that fits my needs. Later on Nov 21st got an email stating that the couple switched lot and moved to lot 104. We did enquirer to got lot measurement and facing information for sapphire model. We got the requested information along with docusign( contract) on Nov 22nd after dropping the check, with all other lot information on one sheet( no clear picture) and another snap with lot information exclusively for lot 133 stating it to be 7459 sqft.

I received another email asking to docusign on Nov 24. In response I stated that i am first time home buyer and told that document was 78 page document which I was unable to understand terminology and asked for help. Sales agent offered help to explain me contract line by line on Nov 25th. After two hours explaining contract there was question raised on lot size as there was a clear email on Nov 22nd. I was asked to sign the contract same day as they can't hold lot until we sign contract and there are several people asking for the lot due to its lot size. I went home and signed lot 133(7459 sqft), North facing contract on docusign.

Due to my positive experience I did refer friend. He did get in to contract for Northfacing lot 129 (4976 sqft). Later, during conversation with my friend, I felt that there was huge difference in lot size based on both lot location. On Feb 19th 2018 I did enquire with sales agent in email to let me know my lot Size and got a response stating that it was 7459 sqft. Later we inspected lot 133 to compare it with lot 129 which were about same size and found that lot 133 was 4600 sqft from town of apex permission attached near lot 133. We bought this issue to sales agent attention on Same night and got response that they will check with land department and management on Wednesday Feb 21st, 2018 and find a resolution on this issue. There were several email communications asking if any resolutions are made on my issue. After three weeks March 17th I got a call from Matt Goss who treated me very unprofessionally and asked to proceed legally. There was no apology for what so ever, never asked my situation or concern and he treated me bad, when told that I have a clear evidence showing the email communication. I am currently working with my attorney to get a resolution on this issue. I did even ask where to leave feedback but no one responded. So I am leaving my feed back here. I heard through my friends about the Vice President of sales at Park at McKenzie, who previously worked with Pulte and Lennar communities here in Apex , NC and had bad experiences.Hope this helps others who can be trapped like me. Overall, I thought and asked myself, what did I get for $5000 paid to meritage. The answer was sleepless nights, mental trauma waste of time, money and resources. I would recommend others not to go with meritage, especially The Park at McKenzie at Apex NC.
